Why was Pied Piper Foundation created?
The Pied Piper Foundation was founded in July 2020 by Ava Johnson, with the help of Make-A-Wish, following her diagnosis with an ependymoma in the summer of 2018. Ava's selfless spirit shone brightly as she chose to use her Make-A-Wish opportunity not for herself, but to create a charity that would support other children suffering from ependymoma brain cancer. Our mission is to raise awareness and funds for pediatric ependymoma research, aiming to support the development of transformative treatments and ultimately find a cure. We are dedicated to supporting organizations in the fight against this rare form of pediatric brain cancer and providing aid to those affected by it.
What are the goals of Pied Piper Foundation?
The goals of Pied Piper Foundation are to raise awareness about pediatric ependymoma, to fund research that leads to transformative treatments and a cure, and to support children and families impacted by this disease through various means, including financial assistance, educational resources, and community support.
What is the focus area of Pied Piper Foundation efforts?
Our specific focus is on ependymoma, but we understand that pediatric brain cancers share many common challenges. These include difficulties in diagnosis, treatment, and overall management. By addressing these broader issues, our efforts can benefit children suffering from various types of brain cancer. While our primary emphasis remains on ependymoma, we are committed to supporting comprehensive research and initiatives that can improve outcomes for the entire pediatric brain tumor community.
