Understanding the effect of mismatch repair deficiency on the alternative lengthening of telomeres

The project aims at understanding if deactivation of the mismatch repair (MMR) pathway leads to the usage of the alternative lengthening of telomeres (ALT) in high grade gliomas. The impact will be significant as we currently know little about the origin of ALT and therapeutics against this type of tumors are scarse. We expect to provide a better mechanistic insight of the correlation between MMR deficiency and ALT with the potential of developing important clinical applications.
