Leveraging Deep Learning to Decipher Single-cell Epigenetic Regulation in Diffuse Midline Glioma and Ependymoma

Diffuse midline glioma (DMG) is a deadly childhood tumor with no effective treatments. This project seeks to understand the genetic and molecular mechanisms driving its development. Through cutting-edge single-cell analyses and advanced AI models, researchers aim to map the tumor’s landscape, identify key regulatory elements, and predict the function of mutations. This knowledge could pave the way for new targeted therapies and improve DMG outcomes.

Autopsy specimens will be used as a pilot for nuclei extraction, and we would like to explore the single-cell epigenetic landscape across various pediatric brain tumor types. The epigenetic landscapes captured from deceased samples may be influenced by chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and other treatments, which could be potential confounding factors.
