Treating high-grade brain tumors in kids is a challenge, and survival rates are low. Over the past twenty years, there has been a surge in the molecular understanding of these gliomas, allowing for a more personalized approach to treatment. Researchers are testing new drugs that target specific molecules in these tumors. But for many children, these therapies are not sufficient and new therapeutic options that target novel pathways or include combinations of therapies are needed. For the toughest tumors, like high-grade gliomas (HGGs), research shows that using drugs that target more than one part of the tumor’s machinery might work better than just one drug. The project will use combination of drugs to stop tumor cell growth through different actions.
