David Haussler, PhD
David Haussler develops new statistical and algorithmic methods to explore the molecular function, evolution, and disease process in the human genome, integrating comparative and high-throughput genomics data to study gene structure, function, and regulation (CV, publications). As a collaborator on
The Treehouse Childhood Cancer Initiative was established to analyze genomic data of children with cancer in the context of large data sets of both pediatric and adult cancers. This allows researchers to identify situations where an available drug is predicted to work for a given patient’s tumor. Treehouse promotes the sharing of pediatric cancer genomic data as well as translation of the findings from this analysis to the clinical setting.

Sofie Salama, PhD, BS
Sofie Salama’s work involves using pluripotent stem cells from a variety of primate species and high throughput sequencing methods to study how genome evolution affects human development and disease. Since 2004, she has collaborated closely with Professor David Haussler, Scientific Director of the U
