What are the goals of this project?
We will empower our study with 1,000 adult glioma patients for which digitized histopathology images and matched genomic data are available and we will employ deep transfer learning techniques to predict driver gene alterations (eg, TP53, PIK3CA, ATRX, NF1) in pediatric brain tumors with models that were trained with data from adult glioma patients.
What is the impact of this project?
This project will potentially describe the molecular basis of pediatric brain tumor histopathology and provide a basis for integrating molecular and histopathological data to improve diagnostic and prognostic workflows for personalized treatments of children with CNS malignancies. Funding for the project was provided by Ian’s Friends Foundation.
